The Wheat Initiative is launching an open call for experts to populate a new Expert Working Group (EWG), dedicated to the following topic on Wheat Plant and Crop Modeling

Further information: http://wheatinitiative.org/about/expert-working-groups.

The main activity of the EWG on Wheat Plant and Crop Modeling will be organising annual workshops to bring together wheat modelers, physiologists and breeders to discuss and advance wheat models to support model-assisted wheat improvement. It will identify gaps in experimental data and crop physiological knowledge and explore pathways to improve global wheat production through linking crop modeling and crop physiology with plant breeding. The EWG will also have as an initial activity to identify the priorities in its research area. After endorsement by the Research Committee, these priorities will be used to build the Wheat Initiative Strategic Research Agenda. Together with research priorities coming from other EWGs, they will constitute a portfolio that will be made available to the members of the Institutions’ Coordination Committee to tackle priorities together or independently in different countries.

To apply to be part of this EWG and participate in its activities complete the application form available at http://www.wheatinitiative.org/sites/www.globalfood.cam.ac.uk/files/WheatModelingEWG_ApplicationForm.doc and return to wheat.initiative@versailles.inra.fr by 25 April 2014.
