Apples, oranges, lemons, limes, pears, quinces, sugar, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, nutmeg, vanilla, star anise--there are many different ingredients that can go into mulled wine, some coming from local sources and others global.
On December 7th, the Global Food Security Initiative will host an evening of mulled wine, cheese and conversation about the global-local nature of past, current and future food systems. The event will feature a guest speaker who will talk about the interplay of global and local in our food systems, and how this interplay might evolve in the future.
How will the evening work?
Each guest will bring an ingredient to add to the mulled wine. At the start of the evening, guests will briefly introduce (all in a minute or less, if possible) themselves, their research interests and the mulled wine ingredient they have contributed (e.g., Where was it purchased? How did the retailer acquire the item? What is its origin country?). Introductions will be followed by a talk from a guest speaker. After the talk, there will be time for networking over mulled wine and cheese (soft drinks also available!)
