Cambridge Global Food Security

Research

Rachel's research centers on understanding the human dimensions of conservation, fire and land use policy at the forest agricultural nexus across the tropics. A particular focus involves shifting cultivation landscapes where largely subsistence agricultural production is impacted by global environmental change and policy responses. Another significant strand of this research explores what strategies perform better to reconcile the imperatives of food production, forest protection and human wellbeing.
