Cambridge Global Food Security

An Interdisciplinary Research Centre at the University of Cambridge

Cambridge University Botanic Garden will be celebrating its annual Festival of Plants, and Amazing Algae, our stand highlighting algal biotechnology at Cambridge, will be one of the many activities on offer in the beautiful Garden setting.

Our stand at the Festival of Plants will highlight algal biotechnology research at Cambridge, and showcase the exciting range of opportunities algae offer for our future. Algae are a promising renewable source of nutrients, and hold great potential in helping to address issues of food security given our growing global population. Can we use components from algae as the basis for innovative food products of the future?

Come and visit our stall where you can learn a bit more about algae and the food we eat. We will have colouring and crafty activities for you to make your very own algae!

At 12:20pm-12:40pm, Professor Alison Smith will also being giving a short talk on 'Algae for Food' in the Talking Plants Tent.

You can also come and see some amazing virtual reality videos on Geothermal tomato growth or 3D printed food!

This stand forms part of the EIT Food #AnnualFoodAgenda project.
