According to the UN, if food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions after China and the US.

This webinar examined the connection between food labelling and food waste, and how much food is wasted because of the way it is labelled.

Our expert panel discussed what the food labelling system is designed to achieve; does it keep us from eating out of date food or create confusion so that food which could have been eaten perfectly safely is wasted?

What are the solutions? Can we create a more circular system that both cuts down food waste and keeps us safe?

This is a follow up to last year's webinar What a Waste: circular food systems and sustainable diets which was also organised with Cambridge Infectious Diseases IRC.

Our panel:

  • Caroline Conroy, Sustainability Sector Specialist, WRAP
  • Chris Meadows, Marketing and Communications Director, Company Shop Group
  • Rebecca Sudworth, Head of Policy, Food Standards Agency

Chair: Professor Yasemin Kor, Judge Business School, University of Cambridge
