Cambridge Global Food Security

An Interdisciplinary Research Centre at the University of Cambridge

Dr Helen Anne Curry draws examples from her recent book, Endangered Maize, to discuss the history of efforts to conserve crop diversity from the turn of the twentieth century until today. Focusing especially on the case of maize, she highlights stories of agricultural change that have motivated scientists and states to save threatened varieties and raises questions about the agendas ultimately served. The dialogue is moderated by Professor Shailaja Fennell.
