The webinar will focus on the alignment between sustainable agriculture and rural development with an emphasis on the conservation and harnessing of natural processes involved in food supply chains.

Prof. Giles Oldroyd of the University of Cambridge’s Sainsbury Laboratory will talk about nitrogen fixation within the context of natural land management techniques.

Dr Shailaja Fennell from the Department of Land Economy and member of the Global Food Security Steering Committee will focus on how local knowledge of agricultural production and processing practices impact on creating sustainable food value chains.

Harriet Bartlett of the Departments of Zoology and Veterinary Medicine will talk about her research on tradeoffs and synergies in the biodiversity impacts, carbon footprints, animal welfare and antibiotic use of Brazilian and UK pig systems.
