The UKRI-GCRF Virtual Conference discusses the extent of GCRF funding in the UK and globally.

There will be a series of virtual presentations, keynote speeches, online discussions and Q&A sessions on a range of topics. Speakers include The UK Space Agency, Peer Review College, Digital Innovation for Development in Africa (DIDA), and Royal Society. The conference will also discuss overcoming the next generation of global challenges. 

 

THE CONFERENCE WILL BE DIVIDED INTO FOUR THEMES: 

PART 1 – Early career researchers and the next generation

Attendees will be joined by experts and professors from The African Academy of Sciences, Peer Review College, and the UKRI-GCRF Accelerating Achievement of Africa's Adolescents Hub.

Part one will consist of a mix of online presentations, podcasts, video seminars and livestreaming lectures, all focused on early career researchers and the next generation. 

PART 2 – Digital data and technologies

Speakers and presenters from the UK-Kenya Research Symposium on Healthy Cities, GCRF Belmont Forum, and Digital Innovation for Development in Africa will update attendees on data initiatives in developing countries, as well as challenge ideas on what technological innovation looks like across the world. 

PART 3 – Global challenges

The Royal Academy of Engineering, Growth of the Education portfolio, and collaborative research project 'GROW' will lead discussions on current global challenges. This section will include video lectures, online polls, Q&A sessions, online presentations, and audio conversations. 

PART 4 – Global partnerships 

The UK Space Agency's International Partnership Programme, the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and the Research Management Programme in Africa (ReMPRO Africa) will share what it is like to work with partners around the globe. Each presentation will take different approaches to explaining why global partnerships are both important and challenging.
