Biography
Dr Laura James is an engineer and leader, who builds and grows sustainable and collaborative tech and organisations. She is CTO at the OPEN (Online Progressive Engagement Network), a co-founding trustee at CoFarm Foundation, and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Cambridge Computer Lab.
Recent roles include Head of Delivery at lowRISC (collaborative open source silicon hardware), and Technology Principal at Doteveryone (the responsible technology think tank). Previously Laura was CEO of Open Knowledge, and she has worked in technical leadership roles at humanitarian NGO Field Ready, AI startup True Knowledge/Evi, and connected homes startup AlertMe. Laura co-founded Cambridge Makespace, the Digital Life Collective, and the Festival of Maintenance, and serves on the boards of Now Play This, and OpenUK.
