Undernutrition, and the inter-relationships between nutrition, growth and poverty in developing countries. Professor Mascie-Taylor's eight year project in Bangladesh to lift 1 million extreme poor people out of poverty ended in September 2016 having exceeded the target. The project was awarded the 2016 British Expertise Award for Outstanding Leadership in International Development.
In 2018 Professor Mascie-Taylor became part-time Director of Research of CAPABLE, a four year cohort and capacity building project focusing on non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh.
Professor Mascie-Taylor has done a lot of research on gut parasites and health/nutritional status (infectious diseases) as well as on food and health, and has also
undertaken numerous consultancies for The World Bank, DFID, DANIDA, USAID and WHO.
